Nadezhda

Nadezhda earned a BA degree in Calligraphy from Roehampton University in London in 1999. She worked as a professional calligrapher for 20 years, and taught calligraphy extensively throughout the South East of England before moving to the South West.

Her public works can be viewed at Croft Castle in Herefordshire, and Caerhays Castle in Cornwall. The majority of her commissions are held in private collections.

A One Day Workshop

Workshop Description

Step into the world of Renaissance art and discover the beauty of traditional miniature illumination in this immersive one-day workshop.

Using authentic techniques and materials, you will learn how to create a Renaissance-style illuminated miniature using real gold leaf and gouache paints. Throughout the day, you will explore the delicate skills that bring these historic paintings to life: applying genuine gold leaf, building rich layers of gouache to create depth and luminosity, and developing fine brushwork to elevate detail and finish.

This workshop is suitable for those with some previous painting experience and for anyone who has attended one of my painting or calligraphy workshops before. It is not designed for complete beginners.

All materials are included, including real gold leaf, allowing you to experience the craftsmanship and artistry of historical illumination techniques.

Join me for a day of careful craftsmanship, traditional techniques, and the timeless beauty of Renaissance miniature painting.
