This six-week portrait drawing course is designed to take the fear and mystery out of drawing faces, replacing it with clear understanding and steady confidence. Suitable for beginners and improvers, the course focuses on front-on and profile portraits, giving you a solid foundation rather than scattered tricks.

Working step by step, you’ll learn how to construct the head using simple geometrical guides, so you understand where features sit and why. Instead of copying what you see and hoping for the best, you’ll learn to read the structure of the face — proportions, angles, and relationships — making portrait drawing far more manageable and repeatable.

The pace is calm and supportive, allowing skills to settle and grow over time. Each session builds on the last, with clear demonstrations, guided exercises, and individual feedback. You’ll practise seeing the face as a series of shapes and planes, not an intimidating whole.

This course is about application, not talent. Portrait drawing isn’t magic — it’s a skill that can be learned, practised, and refined, like any other skill.

By the end of the six weeks, you’ll have completed a series of portrait drawings and, more importantly, gained a reliable method you can continue to use and develop on your own.
