VENGEROV AND BACH
Maxim Vengerov is my favourite musician across all genres. His profound connection to the music, and something beyond himself is palpable every time he plays. This painting was inspired by watching a documentary in which Vengerov went to Auschwitz concentration camp and walked around there playing Bach’s Partita No. 2 in D Minor. It moved me immensely, and I have watched the same clip countless times. Every time I am overwhelmed by the intensity of emotions. Music heals across the ages, and Vengerov is uttlery sincere in his understanding of this.
